Wordless Wednesday – Lesaka

Here’s a selection of Basque buildings in the town of Lesaka, part of the Conco Villas (five towns) in north-west Navarre, very close to the border with France and the city of Donosti-San Sebastian. The town has undergone a major transformation, moving from being a largely rural and livestock-rearing to becoming of the major industrial centres in the area. Nevertheless, it has managed to conserve all its charm and certain 18th century structures, such as ironworks, flour mills, cider cellars and carpentry workshops, which have been a source of wealth for the town, as shown in its many elegant buildings.

    1. When you do, you’ll love it. The natives are very friendly, the scenery spectacular, the architecture awesome and the food’s wonderful. Oh, and plenty of people speak English.
