Friday Photo Challenge – anniversaries

This week Amanda asks us to consider anniversaries, somewhat apt given today’s date. But Amanda is referring to celebrations not commemorations: wedding anniversaries, relationship anniversaries, work anniversaries and special occasions.Amanda lives in Australia so September is Spring in her part of the world, while it’s the start of autumn in mine. She challenges us to look back on where we were last year, six years ago, ten years ago and more.

I was a September bride but most years we were both too busy to celebrate the occasion though we have tried to make amends in recent years. Last year, upon our return from our latest #adventuredownunder, we spent a few days chillin’ just up the road in Alassio, one of our favourite bolt holes.

The previous year we’d celebrated with a relaxing weekend in the English countryside after a family wedding.

In 2017, our 40th wedding anniversary, we’d visited the City of Light (Paris) and celebrated in the Train Bleu restaurant without which no trip to Paris would be complete.

In 2016, we’d celebrated our day at The Frog restaurant in London.

Back in 2015, our celebrations were held in Sag Harbor on our maiden trip to The Hamptons.

In September 2014, we’d enjoyed a long drive to and from Ponferrada (Spain) to watch the UCI Road World Championships, celebrating our anniversay en route in northern Spain.

You’ll see a pattern emerging here. In September 2013 we were in Tuscany for the World Road Race Championships which were held in Florence.

In 2012 and 2011 I made the pilgrimage to the World Championships on my lonesome but in 2010, we were together in Geelong (Victoria).

I’m much enjoying these weekly challenges hosted on alternate weeks by either Amanda or Sandy because they force me to think about what’s in my photo archives and how I might re-purpose them.

If you’ve enjoyed this post, why not join in the fun?

Friendly Friday

  1. A diverse collection of photos that I thoroughly enjoyed viewing, Sheree. That restaurant in Paris is mind-blowing. Is that real gold?
