I quite like ferns, you can get some that are greenish all year round and don’t require much tending …… unless you want them getting enormous. I had two recently that over 10+ years got so stumpy rooted it took three of us with ropes to get them OUT!

I like them too but don’t have any in my terrace garden, it’s way too hot and sunny.
