Ramblings of a retiree in France
It’s now almost two weeks since our internet service, Orange Fibre Pro was cut off, along with our telephone line. We’re now onto the fourth promise of reconnection. The Business Services operator I spoke to this morning has elevated my dossier to level 3 and guaranteed reconnection in 48 hours. I am fast exhausting my patience and faith in Orange.

Easier said than done I’m afraid. This is our business internet service and we have some things which are not available from other providers.

So sorry to hear you’re having to deal with this, Sheree. Sounds as bad as some of the ISPs here in the States. Hope this gets rectified soon…and that they credit you in some way.

For me it’s less about the recompense and more about the reconnection. Then, of course, I want to understand why it happened and why it took so long to resolve.

Good luck with that. They’ll probably offer some complicated technical explanation when the truth is that an intern tripped over a power cord and unplugged the server. 🙂

If only Richard, they’ve had a major meltdown with customers unable to contact emergency services resulting in about 5 deaths. The government is (quite rightly) insisting on a full investigation.

Every time I cross the border from Germany into France (pre-Covid, that is) a note pops up on my mobile phone saying I have automatically been connected to Orange. Apparently they have an agreement with my German provider. I certainly hope Orange will be working properly after Covid runs its course.

I feel your pain, Sheree! A lot of people here in the states, me included, are having these kinds of issues these days. It seems that the internet doesn’t work like it used to. I too get knocked offline a lot and it’s a royal pain. AT&T sucks and I’m about to make a switch! Here’s hoping you get it taken care of.

I am hearing Orange has a problem and now a govt investigation as they handle the emergency lines 15 and 18 and four persons dead as line problems!!! To be continue….hang in there.

That’s absolutely true. They’ve had what might be called a meltdown. I don’t know whether they’ve been hacked or what. At least no one has died here.

yes FR2 show it 4 persons and one even spoked on tv ;;;; 78 yrs heart attack no answers number appears busy. Still investigating Orange procedures. Best of luck to you to get internet back.

Two weeks?! Good gosh. I was thinking of the phone calls you are missing, but then guessed that those who would be calling you are also without a phone line. Hope it’s resolved soon, Sheree.

I’d lose my patience too. One week seems without service shows the customer is patient and more than reasonable. By the second week, unless there’s some secondary natural disaster, I’d expect the service to get restored.
My friend in France has had these long waits.

Wow, this is a mighty lengthy time for a service such as this to be out. Unless they suffered major damage and destruction in the area due to natural causes, it’s quite peculiar lol

It must be frustrating. A couple of years ago, we there was some problem and we had no internet for many weeks. I used to wonder what life was like before the internet 🙂

If you’re running a business like us, being without the internet is a nightmare. Luckily we do have back-up plans.
