Ramblings of a retiree in France
Bizarrely, I’ve not taken too many photos of doors recently. But I always have a few old, worn French doors in my back pocket.
Thursday Doors is a weekly feature allowing door lovers to come together to admire and share their favourite door photos from around the world. Feel free to join in the fun by creating your own Thursday Doors post each week and then sharing your link in the comments’ on Dan’s site, anytime between Thursday morning and Saturday noon (North American Eastern Time).

The more I see of these pictures, the more I’m convinced I could become obscenely rich selling sandpaper and painting supplies in Europe… or at least be going into business refinishing doors. π

In theory yes, in practice no. Let me explain why. In Europe, if it ainβt broke, why fix it?

I can understand that. The US is exactly the opposite with Home Depot, Lowes and their minions at the Discovery Network’s chain of home improvement channels have convinced most folks that if it isn’t brand new, your house is an embarrassment.
Still, a Euro of prevention is worth 100 Euros of cure. Rust and wood rot have a BAD tendency to spread

Not when theyβre on the door of a stone built building. Construction methods in Europe are very different to those in US.

I notice that potted jade plants near doors seem to be a thing. And I like the knob/handle in the middle of the door!
