Ramblings of a retiree in France
I’m a big music fan so thought it might be nice to take part in Bee’s ” Love is in Da Blog” Challenge for the month of February.
Today’s prompt is a love song for all countries troubled by violence – too many to mention!
I immediately thought about Where is the Love? Recorded and released by hip-hop group the Black Eyed Peas in 2003 who call out so many conflicts and evils on this track — racism, war, gang violence, terrorism, chemical warfare, greed, misleading and salacious media reports, inequality, to name a few.
Will.i.am alleges the inspiration for the original song came from the generalised anxiety following the September 11 attacks. In the song the Black Eyed Peas urge us to attempt to understand one another so that we might find common ground.
What ever happened to the values of humanity? / Whatever happened to the fairness and equality? / Instead of spreading love we’re spreading animosity / Lack of understanding leading us away from unity.
“Love Is In Da Blog” Rules/suggestions
I’m not very savvy when it comes to sharing links but I did want to thank you for sharing this song today, Sheree… It has always made me cry, especially “People living like they ain’t got no Mamas.” Always loved the Black Eyed Peas. My kids had all their albums. Just added this to my playlist: hadn’t heard it in awhile so my sincere thanks…xo 🙂💕
