Ramblings of a retiree in France
My mother was blessed with very green fingers, sadly I am not. Buy me flowers or indeed a potted plant and no bookie would give you odds on how long it’ll last. Now, I may be tempting fate here, but I’m currently still nursing a couple of plants that friends bought me over two months ago. Sadly a couple of recent bouquets barely saw out the week!
However, I absolutely adore flowers in situ and that’s what I’m going to be featuring over the next few months or so. These foxgloves (????) were at Longwood Gardens, just outside Philadelphia.
You may not be good with flowers, but you can sure compose a picture of them

I have been buying carnations lately and I can keep them alive and looking nice for about 3 weeks.

Congratulations! I’ll let you into a secret, while I love most flowers, I loathe carnations. I have some friends who always bring me some when they come round. Let’s just say they rarely make it into water!

I was in Philadelphia last week and learned that Longwood acquired another estate and is expanding their gardens–for your next visit.
