Ramblings of a retiree in France
I’ve kicked off 2023 with a series of my favourite cover songs. It’s quite amazing how many artists cover one another’s songs. Some artists are better known for their covers than others, such as Adam Lambert.
Renowned for re-imagining songs from American Idol to his stirring viral hit with Cher’s “Believe”, Adam Lambert – the Grammy-nominated pop icon, LGBTQ trailblazer and Queen front man – has recently issued High Drama, a wonderfully diverse collection of covers with a twist, held together by Adamโs once-in-a-generation voice and trademark flair. Yes, all 11 tracks on the album are covers. So which one should I choose?
Frankly, I could’ve chosen any of the tracks but I’ve decided to go with his cover of Culture Club‘s Do You Really Want to Hurt Me?
Which version do you prefer? Let me know below.
I could not listen as I was blocked out.
Why?

It often depends on where you live. Some Videos are not available on YT everywhere. In this case I often click on the video and it leads you to its YT location. I always put the link to videos underneath when I share them for that reason. I hope you have a good day despite not hearing the song. I like both versions the same ๐ค

I first heard Adam’s songs while I was in high school since they were so popular at the time. When we took breaks, all we could hear outside was “Whattaya want from me?” or “All around me are familiar faces.” They all hold memories, and they’re fantastic.
But if I were to pick a song from what you’ve shared I’d go with the last one, it’s closer to my heart.
Thanks for sharing and have a great week, Sheree! ๐

My daughter was good friends with Adam Lambert’s brother and his wife in school. Nice family.

I like Adamโs version best. ย Iโve never cared for Cher in any way and the way they caught her dabbing her eyes so not to ruin caked in makeup was so planned and false it was sickening

“Culture Club” oh how long ago it is. I love Adam Lambert, but will have to go with the original on this one.
