Mystery Blogger Awards VII and VIII

I was invited by Rachael’s Novels to take part in the Mystery Blogger Award and I thought, why not? A big shout out to Rachael for the nomination and don’t forget to head over to her site to check out her novels and give her a follow.

Then, a week or two later, I was most kindly nominated by Mrs Holiman over at God’s Love, again please head over to her lovely blog, check it out and give her a follow too.

Three Things about Myself

Blimey, I’ve done so many awards, and particularly after the Vogue Challenge, I must now be an open book. Here goes and apologies in advance for anything I’ve already told you.

I have an excellent memory, much to my beloved’s chagrin, as a kid I always used to win the party game where you had to recall the items on a tray. If I’ve read it, heard or seen it I’ll most likely be able to remember it. I just have to close my eyes and I can see it in my mind’s eye. This ability does not prevent me from having selective memory loss!

My Best Blogs

I don’t know, you tell me. Is it the ones with the most views? In which case it’s my series of blogs about “Things about France that surprised me…..” such as not sending cards, hypochondria, bread, driving, hamburgers

My Nominees

As is my wont, please pick up the baton of the challenge of this award if you feel so inclined!

Rachael’s Questions

Rachael picked a set of questions set by Lydia Potter used for her nominees in her Real Neat Blog Award post, because she thought they were neat, but I’ve already answered these here. So I’ve used the same set she answered.

1. Do you like writing?

Yes, I enjoy writing and rarely suffer from writer’s block.

2. Have you ever written poetry?

No, my younger sister is the family poet laureate. She has an enviable knack for it.

3. Who is your fave author?

There are a number I really like such as Evelyn Waugh, Kazuo Ishiguro, Margaret Attwood and Gabriel García Márquez but I don’t really have a favourite.

4. Poetry or novels?

I prefer reading novels though occasionally enjoy reading poetry.

5. Have you ever written something that you really wish you didn’t?

No, because I’m conscious that anything written down could be viewed by anyone, including an unintended audience.

Mrs Holiman’s Questions

1. What is your favourite bible verse about kindness?

I believe I’ve mentioned my lack of familiarity with the Bible. However, one thing I’ve always tried to abide by is this:-

2. How has your 2020 year been so far?

It started off really well and has now kinda stalled.

3. Who’s a better swimmer batman or superman?

Tricky one!

4. What do you love about blogging?

It’s enjoyable and informative

5. What things you like to watch on youtube? Name 3

I don’t really watch anything on YouTube though I do use clips from it to illustrate some of my blogs.

Mystery Blogger Award VI

I was nominated in early January for the Mystery Blogger Award by Sadje from Life After 50 – I know what that’s like! She has a wonderful blog with some interesting posts and great photos. If you’re not one of her followers, do drop in to check it out.

Mystery Blogger Award

The Mystery Blogger Award was created by Okoto Enigma to award those amazing bloggers with ingenious posts. Their blogs not only captivate; they inspire and motivate. They are some of the best out there, and they deserve every recognition they get. This award is for bloggers who find fun and inspiration in blogging, and they do it with so much love and passion. – Okoto Enigma

My Nominees

You all know by now how this works. I nominate anyone who has taken the trouble to read this post – thank you.

Three Things About Me

I have written so much about myself on all these various awards that I’m really scraping the barrel or, even worse, repeating myself. If that’s the case, apologies in advance.

1. I typically write my blogs on my laptop in the office, a large room I share with my beloved. It was fine while he travelled all the time but now he’s home more and more, it’s sometimes difficult to concentrate, particularly when he’s on the phone. I feel the need to relocate to somewhere quieter………maybe the lounge. The danger is that I’ll spend all my time gazing at our wonderful view as opposed to doing any work.

2. I’m someone who enjoys her own company. I like being alone and never feel lonely. I love it when my beloved is away for a few days and my time is my own. Of course, as we’re both in lock-down this isn’t going to happen anytime soon.

3. I love being outdoors every day, usually on my bike. Fortunately, I can still do this providing I don’t go too far from home. I just ride a number of circuits using those roads less travelled.

Sadjes Questions

1. What is your strategy for dealing with stress?

The most stressful thing in my life is easily my beloved husband. Not him per se, but dealing with the consequences of his actions or inactions. I generally find a few days of peace and quiet without him restores my equilibrium.

2. If tomorrow were the last day, What would you do first?

Easy, I’d go for a nice long ride on my bike

3. How would you describe yourself as a colour and why?

I’d be orange, a colour which is great as an accessory, it goes with pretty much every main colour: brown, black, grey, beige, navy.

4. Physical beauty or intelligence?

Given that beauty is in the eye of the beholder, I’d go for intelligence.

5. Do you believe that Murphy is trying to mess up our day?

Who is this mysterious Murphy? Is he the chap from Murphy’s law, which states: “Anything that can go wrong will go wrong”. If it is, then my approach to being never knowingly underprepared should considerably help.

Best Blogs

What defines one’s best blogs. Are they the one’s that attract the most likes? Given that I’m currently plumbing my archives every Friday for an underappreciated gem, I think we’ll leave it at that.

1. Put the award logo on your post.♥️

Mystery Blogger Awards IV and V

Many thanks to @chingmonis of Life and Life Lessons who kindly nominated me back in early November for this Mystery Blogger Award. His blog is his avenue to show us what’s in the deepest recess of his heart and what’s taking place in his mind. He aims to take us on a unique ride where we can get to know his feelings, crazy thoughts, aspirations and greatest dreams.

I was then nominated in December by Joshua from Spread the Word who’s a Christian and a firm believer in the Lord Jesus Christ as his Savior! He likes reading books, fishing, Scrabble®, Risk®, Battleship®, Othello (Reversi), checkers, chess, funny things, Christian music, classical music, Latin music, hymns, practicing his guitar, playing catch and frisbee, exercising, cats, dogs, bears, fish, and other animals, but NOT centipedes. I’m with you on the centipedes Joshua!

Go and check out their uplifting blogs and give them a follow!!!!

The Mystery Blogger Award

An award for amazing bloggers with ingenious posts. Their blog not only captivates; it inspires and motivates. They are one of the best out there and they deserve every recognition they get. This award is also for bloggers who find fun and inspiration in blogging, and they do it with so much love and passion. – Okoto Enigma

Nominees

As you know I follow so many amazing blogs that it’s well nigh impossible to nominate every deserving blogger. I’d therefore, as usual, like to invite those who are interested to take part either in the comments section below or in a post on your own blog. Go on, you know you want to!.

Three (more) things about me

1. My birth sign is Capricorn and, yes, I’m a goat not a sheep!

2. I’m not much one for New Year’s Resolutions. If something needs changing, I do it now, I don’t wait for New Year.

3. I’m a very positive and energetic person. My proud boast is that I’ve yet to meet the child who can wear me out! How long this will continue is anyone’s guess.

Ching’s Questions

1. Tell us something interesting about you.

I’ve already told you all so much I think I’ve exhausted anything remotely interesting.

2. What topics/genre do you like writing about?

Anything that takes my fancy!

3. If you are to recommend a place to visit in your country, what would it be and why?

France is the most visited country on this earth. There’s something for everyone here and I’m slowly and surely working my way around its many splendours.

4. How do you see yourself 5 years from now (in terms of blogging)?

Still tapping away on a daily basis.

5. Any wish for yourself or anyone.

Health and happiness to all.

Joshua’s Questions

1. Have you ever been abroad?

Is the Pope a Catholic? I think we all know the answer to this one, unless of course you’ve not been reading my posts!

2. What kind of music do you like?

I like lots of different music: rock, heavy metal, electronic, rap, R&B

3. Have you ever climbed a mountain?

Col de la Bonette!

No, and I’m never going to climb one because I don’t like heights. I have however scaled small mountains on both my bike and on foot.

4. Can you ride a bike?

Yes! I’m a pretty good rider (for my age) see photo above.

5. Who’s the ugliest cartoon character you’ve ever seen in your life?

I don’t think you and I watch the same cartoons Joshua!

Mystery Blogger Award III

I have accepted the very kind nomination from Betul Erbasi who writes short stories in English and Turkish over at a blog of the same name. Betul’s a PhD student at the University of Southern California and the blog provides her with an outlet for her creative talent. Head on over there, check out her blog and give her a follow.

They are some of the best out there, and they deserve every recognition they get. This award is also for bloggers who find fun and inspiration in blogging; and they do it with so much love and passion – I definitely fall into the latter category!

Three Things About Me

It’s getting more and more difficult to come up with stuff I’ve not already talked about!

1. My boss at my last employer decided to commission an assessment of his executive team. I came out as “The Board Rebel,” a title I much relished. My boss less so!

2. As a child I tried many times to get rid of my kid sister. I was unsuccessful!

3. Dogs love me! I’ve no idea why but they always make a bee-line for me.

Favourite Posts

I love all the posts about my beloved husband, such as:-

3. What is your dream city like? What kind of city?

My dream city is where I live in France. I’m an unashamed urbanite.

Don’t need a sentence. I can do it in 5 words – Remainer, happy, fun-loving, healthy and long-time married.

5. (Weird/Funny, repeated from above) What was your most embarrassing moment (or most disgusting habit – if you can’t think of one) ever?

I’m going to have to give this some thought. Oh, I know, when I accidentally stole a car. You know, I should write a post about that incident!

Another award, really?

I’ll be honest, it’s a mystery why anyone would nominate my blog for an award. However, thanks must go once again to Dragon Warrior who only blogged for a couple of months over at The Den of Dreams.  She very kindly nominated me for my second Mystery Blogger Award. I do hope her exams went well and, more importantly, a certain someone has replied to her message!

Then, a few days later Lydia gave me a third one! She blogs over at Lydia’s blog and, like me, loves cooking. The third of seven siblings, Lydia plays guitar and piano, helps in children’s ministries, and loves serving God.

This is allegedly, and I quote, “an award for amazing bloggers with ingenious posts whose blogs should captivate, inspire and motivate you.”  Thankfully, it’s also for bloggers who find fun and inspiration in blogging – that’s much more me. This award was dreamt up by Okoto Enigma – what a fabulous name.

Dragon Warrior’s Questions

1. 3 pet peeves?

Only 3? Okay, here goes: disrespect, most -isms (such as racism, sexism…….) and my beloved constantly failing to put things back from whence they came.

2. Something nobody should ask you?

How old are you?

3. Something really crazy about you?

There’s nothing really crazy about me, either now or in the past.

4. If the world would end and you were to take ONE thing with you, what would it be?

My husband

5. The most mysterious incident that happened to you?

I’ve wracked my (still) excellent memory but I cannot recall any mysterious incident ever!

Lydia’s Questions

I prefer food shopping in my local markets to shops, but my favourite grocery store is the closest one.

3. What are you looking forward to the most next year?

My beloved’s retirement and I never thought I would say that.

Because I can!

5. Which do you dislike more: cockroaches or spiders?

Cockroaches

An award, really?

Introduction

I’ll be honest, it’s a mystery why anyone would nominate my blog for an award. However, thanks must go to Jack from Pep’s Free from the Kitchen who nominated me for the Mystery Blogger Award. Questions for Me

These were posed by Jack

What’s one of your favourite works of literature?

I’ll be honest, I have problems with picking favourites. It’s too difficult to whittle things of such import to just one book, or one record, or one restaurant. But, as you insist, it’ll have to be something that made me laugh out loud. I’m going to pick Manchester United Ruined My Life by Colin Schindler.

Is there any ingredient you’ve struggled with?

No, not really though I generally steer clear of tofu.

What advice would you offer to other bloggers?

Write about things you know and love.

What’s your favourite band?

Please refer to my response to question one! Should I go for Bon Jovi, Red Hot Chilli Peppers or Guns n Roses? Why not all three?

What collective name do you refer to your readers as? (Like my: Dear Readers)

A collective noun implies that there’s more than one reader doesn’t it?

Five Questions for My Nominees

What’s your favourite sport and why?
